Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin protein produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum and related species. A cosmetic solution of this toxin is injected with a needle into the facial muscle; you should see the benefits develop over the next two to fourteen days. A decreased appearance of facial lines and decreased local muscle activity will be the expected result of the treatment. Possible side effects include headache, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop / brow drop (these are rarely experienced). Results are temporary and several treatments may be needed to achieve optimum results and maintain the effect. Effects typically last for 2-5 months but can vary for each individual.
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in the human body that hydrates the skin by bonding with water. Dermal fillers are manufactured by cross linking synthetic hyaluronic acid into a gel form. It is injected to provide volume to facial structures and tissues. It can be used to correct facial lines, wrinkles and folds, for lip enhancement and for shaping facial contours. Effects typically last for 6-18 months depending on which product is used and can vary for each individual. Multiple treatments may be required.
Phosphatidylcholine, Deoxycholic Acid - Phosphatidylcholine is a naturally occurring phospholipid, which facilitates the emulsification of fat, to enable transportation and absorption. Deoxycholic acid is a component of bile, which breaks fat down. After the injection of lipolytic solution, the fat cell wall is destroyed, resulting in inflammatory necrosis and reduction in fat cell size. This cascade also results in fibroblast migration and stimulation and therefore a tightening effect is observed. Typically 1-3 sessions are required, 4-6 weeks apart. Side effects of PC/DC may include: bruising, swelling, numbness, marginal mandibular nerve injury, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), alopecia (small areas of hair loss at injections sites) Unsatisfactory results: There is a possibility of an unsatisfactory result from injections of PC/DC. The procedure may result in unacceptable visible deformities or asymmetry in the treatment area.
Polydioxanone threads - Smooth monofilaments of PDO are inserted into the dermis in various arrangements to encourage natural collagen production. Increased collagen in the dermis can make skin feel tighter, stronger and more rejuvenated. The extent of the effect will depend on the individual's healing ability (affected by such factors such as age, smoking status, nutrition and lifestyle, chronic health conditions). Several treatments may be required. Rarely, a thread may protrude out of the skin, you are to contact Meriah immediately for removal - it is very rare for this to cause discomfort.
Risks associated with any skin penetrating procedure, and in this specific instance include (but are not limited to):
1) post treatment discomfort, swelling, bruising 2) post treatment localised infection 3) reactivation of herpes 4) granuloma/nodule formation 5) allergic reaction 6) tissue necrosis, vision loss, stroke, filler embolus in the circulatory/pulmonary systems.
I hereby give consent for the Registered Nurse, Meriah Stack, to perform a treatment plan approved and prescribed by the Doctor on call.
I understand that there can be no guarantee or assurance as to the final result that may be obtained. I understand that I have the right to refuse treatment.
