The StreetWise Partners program is designed to develop and promote standards of professional behavior. Our program policies reflect this standard of excellence and are as follows:
Mentee Conduct:
While participating in StreetWise Partners activities, mentees will not engage in the following:
1. Discriminatory statements or behaviors, including those based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, nationality or religion;
2. Sexual harassment or sexual assault;
3. Any unlawful or inappropriate activity (including, but not limited to, engaging in illegal drug use, suggestive comments or behavior, bullying, or any inappropriate social media posts, calls, chats or messages) with mentors, other mentees or StreetWise Partners’ staff.
Mentees may not use their participation in StreetWise Partners to promote partisan politics, religious matters or other affiliations.
Mentees will treat everyone in the program with respect and professionalism
A primary purpose of the program is for StreetWise Partners employees and volunteers to evaluate mentees’ potential for future success and provide objective mentorship. Accordingly, mentees are absolutely prohibited from seeking to have or having a romantic and/or sexual relationship with StreetWise Partners employees or volunteers. It is imperative that mentees are not placed in the uncomfortable position of wondering whether an invitation to a social event by a StreetWise Partners employee or volunteer is anything other than a chance to become acquainted as part of our overall mentorship effort. Please be mindful of this and avoid any action that might be misinterpreted. During your time in the program, you should be focused on developing skills and networking in a professional manner. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in removal from the program.
StreetWise Partners encourages mentors and mentees to seek professional and working relationships as professionals outside of the program, and mentees may receive requests for additional interaction through LinkedIn requests, coffee chats, informational interviews, etc. While we hope that these organic relationships form, we must be clear that these interactions are not part of program participation or service, and are therefore outside the scope of our program. StreetWise Partners is not responsible for the communications or activities during such interactions. Should mentors and mentees want to engage within the scope of the program, StreetWise Partners can arrange for this to happen in a structured environment and under the auspices of StreetWise Partners’ staff.
Communication:
If a mentee knows that he/she will be running late to session, they must notify all appropriate parties (mentors and group officer, Program Manager) by email and phone as soon as possible.
Mentors and mentees are expected to talk via phone or in person at least once per week outside of program sessions. Mentors and mentees are also expected to communicate via email multiple times per week to submit and review deliverables.
Attendance:
Treat the StreetWise Partners program like you would treat a job; be on time and ready to learn!
Mentees are expected to be present at every program session, as each session builds on the ones before.
Emergency misses may be granted for approved circumstances. Notify your mentor(s), group lead volunteer, and Program Manager as soon as possible.
If you miss 3 sessions you may be asked to leave the program even if all misses are excused.
All program participants are expected to be on time to every session. There are no excused lateness and lateness should be kept to a minimum. If a mentee is consistently late he/she may be asked to leave the program.
Participants arriving more than 30 minutes late for session will be marked “absent” but permitted to stay at session.
Deliverables:
You will be expected to complete and submit all deliverables by the documented date on your syllabus.
All work missed due to absence must be made up in collaboration with your mentor(s).
Decide with your mentor(s) when you will submit your deliverables for review each week. This allows your mentor’s time to review your work prior to the final deadline the day before session. Your mentors will provide you with feedback on your first draft and you will be responsible for a emailing a final version to your program site e-mail address. Failure to follow the assignments policy can lead to dismissal from the program.
Attire:
Business smart clothing must be worn at all StreetWise Partners events (including virtual or videoconferencing events) unless otherwise indicated. StreetWise Partners can provide a referral to obtain business smart clothing if needed.
Business professional clothing must be worn at Speed Networking and Mock Interview day (even if conducted virtually or by videoconference). StreetWise Partners can provide a referral to obtain business professional clothing if needed.
Any events conducted virtually or via videoconference should have an appropriate background displayed.
Information Sharing:
StreetWise Partners has a targeted goal of providing our mentees with the skills, resources and access to networks needed to secure and maintain employment. Throughout the twelve month program, StreetWise Partners will monitor your development and retain records of your deliverables and other communications between you and anyone affiliated with the program. In an effort to maximize the effectiveness of the mentorship program, StreetWise Partners may share the information collected as part of the program with mentors, affiliated organizations and any other organizations that have referred certain mentees to StreetWise Partners. When you participate in the program, you consent to such collection, use and sharing of your information as described above.

Each mentee acknowledges that they may, in the course of the program, have access to confidential and/or proprietary information that may be of value to StreetWise Partners. Each mentee understands that this makes their position one of trust and confidence. Each Mentee understands StreetWise Partners’ need to limit disclosure and use of confidential and/or proprietary information. Each mentee understands that all restrictions are for the purpose of enabling StreetWise Partners to fulfill its mission and to protect the integrity of StreetWise Partners, and that StreetWise Partners’ engagement of mentees, and its disclosure of confidential and/or proprietary information to mentees during the course of the program is conditioned upon, and is being done in reliance upon, each mentee’s agreement to be bound by the terms hereof (including an agreement to maintain confidentiality). Each mentee therefore agrees to the following:
(a) Obligation of Confidentiality. Unless specifically authorized in writing by StreetWise Partners, each mentee shall not use or disclose in any way, for their benefit or for the benefit of others, either during or after the program, any Confidential Information; provided, however, that StreetWise Partners agrees and acknowledges that each mentee will be entitled to use, for any purpose, any general knowledge that they obtain in connection with their participation in the program. “Confidential Information” shall include but not be limited to:

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the term “Confidential Information” does not include information which (i) was already in such mentee’s possession prior to the time of disclosure to such mentee; provided, however, that such information was not furnished to such mentee by a source known by such mentee to be bound by an obligation of confidentiality to StreetWise Partners, or otherwise prohibited from disclosing the information to such mentee, (ii) was or becomes generally available to the public other than as a result of a disclosure by such mentee, (iii) becomes available to such mentee on a non-confidential basis from a source other than StreetWise Partners; provided, however, that such information was not furnished to such mentee by a source known by such mentee to be bound by an obligation of confidentiality to StreetWise Partners, or otherwise prohibited from disclosing the information to such mentee, or (iv) which was or is independently developed by such mentee without use of, reference to or reliance upon the Confidential Information or otherwise violating obligations hereunder.
In the course of the program, mentees may be provided with personal information regarding one or more mentors. (b) Disclosure of Confidential Information Required by Law. In the event that a mentee is required or requested by law, regulatory authority or other applicable judicial or governmental order (including by oral questions, interrogatories, requests for information, subpoena, civil investigative demand or similar process) to disclose any Confidential Information, such mentee will, to the extent not legally prohibited, provide StreetWise Partners with prompt written notice of any such requirement or request so that the StreetWise Partners may seek a protective order or other appropriate remedy and/or waive compliance with the confidentiality terms of this waiver. Such mentee will cooperate with StreetWise Partners (at StreetWise Partners’ expense) in any actions it may choose to take in seeking to prevent or limit disclosure. In the event that such protective order or other remedy is not obtained, or that StreetWise Partners waives compliance with the confidentiality terms of this waiver, such mentee may disclose only that portion of the Confidential Information which is legally required; provided, however, that such mentee shall exercise their best efforts to obtain assurance that confidential treatment will be accorded such Confidential Information.

Each mentee acknowledges that they are aware that any concerns regarding misconduct or suspected violations of law or policy within StreetWise Partners may be reported to [NAME], Program Director at [NUMBER] or [EMAIL]. Each mentee acknowledges that they may raise any such concerns promptly to the Program Director, who may, in turn, raise or elevate such concerns to the Chief Program Officer. Each mentee further understands that StreetWise Partners strictly prohibits retaliation against any person who reports such concerns in good faith.

All materials and any other embodiment of Confidential Information received by a mentee during the course of the program, and any tangible embodiments of such materials created by such mentee, alone or with others, whether confidential or not, are the property of StreetWise Partners. Upon the request of StreetWise Partners, such mentee will promptly (and in any event within ten (10) days) return or destroy, at their election and cost, all such materials referred to in the immediately preceding sentence and any copies thereof; provided, however, that such mentee may retain data or records containing such materials which are automatically backed-up or stored on electronic computer systems. Any materials that cannot be or is not returned or destroyed shall remain confidential, subject to the terms of this waiver. Each mentee further agrees that StreetWise Partners shall have no liability to them for any injuries, losses, damages, or expenses of any nature sustained by such mentee in connection with their participation in the program and such mentee agrees to waive any and all claims associated with their participation in the program, except to the extent any such injury, loss, damage, or expense is due to the gross negligence or willful misconduct of StreetWise Partners.
