Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that I am aware of the possible risks, dangers and hazards associated with volunteering for the Young Entrepreneur Leadership Launchpad (YELL / the Organizers) including the possible risk of severe or fatal injury and property loss. I hereby assume these risks which include, but are not limited to: the possibility of physical injury to myself and others such as muscle strain, broken bones, concussion, soft tissue damage, infectious diseases, and cardiac arrest. I certify that I have not been advised against volunteering by a qualified health professional. I acknowledge that the Organizers, permitting me to volunteer for the YELL, accept my statements on this release waiver.

Media Release

I hereby grant full permission to the Organizers to use any photographs, motion pictures, videotapes, recordings or any other record of this Event for any purpose including, without limitation, commercial use.

Expenses:

YELL Canada will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by Volunteer unless expressly authorized in writing by the Reporting Officer.

Insurance

YELL Canada will be responsible for all insurance and liability coverage required for the project.

Ownership & Return of Property:

Volunteer agrees that all property & Copyright (including without limitation all equipment, tangible proprietary information, reports, documents, records, notes, contracts and computer-generated materials) furnished to or created or prepared by Volunteer incident to his/her term as a volunteer belongs to YELL Canada exclusively and shall be promptly returned to YELL Canada upon termination of this agreement

Privacy and Confidential information:

It is expected that Volunteer will not divulge any confidential information concerning YELL Canada or its dealings with individuals or organizations. Volunteer further agrees to hold all Confidential Information, as defined below, in confidence, and not to disclose, use, copy, publish, or summarize any Confidential Information during your Term as a volunteer or at any time following the termination of your role as a volunteer with YELL Canada, except (A) as necessary to carry out your assigned responsibility as a volunteer to YELL Canada or (B) as specifically authorized in writing by an officer of YELL Canada.


“Confidential Information” is all information related to any aspect of the business of YELL Canada or any affiliates thereof, including information related to any student, teacher, school, partner, mentor, guest speaker, or any other affiliated party, which is either information not known outside of YELL Canada or is proprietary information of YELL Canada or any of its affiliates, whether of a technical nature or otherwise.


Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Indemnity Agreement

I, the volunteer, on behalf of myself, my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, representatives and assigns, hereby forever waive all claims and release, discharge and hold harmless YELL Canada, and their representatives and agents including, without limitation, event sponsors, event directors, event contractors, event producers, municipal, provincial, federal governing agencies, park governing agencies, and all other entities associated or involved in the organization or staging of events or any other volunteer activities, including, but not limited to, volunteers, third party vendors, all venues in which volunteer activities or segments of volunteer activities are held, and the members, officers, directors, employees, representatives, assigns, affiliates, and agents of any of the above (collectively, the “Releasees”); for any and all losses, costs, causes of action, claims or damages, including any claim for damages for personal injury to my person or personal property damage howsoever caused, arising out of or in connection with my taking part in the Event, notwithstanding that the same may have been contributed to or occasioned by, without limitation, the negligence, breach of contract or breach of any statutory or other duty of care of the Organizer, or any of the Releasees.


I agree not to sue any of the persons or entities mentioned above for any of the claims or liabilities that I have waived, released or discharged herein; and I indemnify and hold harmless the Organizers and Releasees from and against any and all losses, claims, suits, actions, damages or liabilities (including without limitation, legal fees and disbursement on a solicitor and its own client basis) assessed against them as a result of or in connection with my actions during, and in connection with, the Event.


I agree to properly wear, at all times, while participating in the Western Canada Young Entrepreneur Showcase any required safety or other equipment and to perform my duties as a volunteer in accordance with the instructions and directions that are given to me. I further agree that it is my responsibility to act in such a manner as to be responsible for my own safety while volunteering at the Festival or attending any events or activities related to the Festival.


Personal Information

I consent to having the information in my volunteer registration collected. Certain personal information may be made available to government departments and agencies under appropriate legislative authority.


I hereby affirm that I am eighteen (18) years of age or older, I have read this document, and I understand its contents. I acknowledge that I am agreeing to this waiver voluntarily and that if I am under the age of 18 I require parental consent.
